Ozie Davis III

Ozie Davis III is a lifelong Avondale resident having moved back to the street he was born on after graduate and law school at Indiana University. Before joining Congressman Steve Driehaus’ office as his Community Liaison, Davis spent five years in the field of Community Development as a Program Officer at the Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC). While at LISC, Davis was fortunate to work on Housing, Safety, Education, Workforce Development, Commercial Development, Community Organizing, and other community-based initiatives.

Davis is an active member of the Avondale Community Council, where he co-founded the Avondale Youth Council and Residents United for a Better Avondale (RUFABA). Davis is a board member of Cincinnati ’s Citizens Complaint Authority, member of Parents for Public Schools of Greater Cincinnati, Chair of Rockdale Academy’s Local School Decision Making Committee, and an advisory board member for the Cincinnati Reds Community Fund. Davis also volunteers for the United Way and is a faithful member of Southern Baptist Church. Davis also founded and is Board Chair of the Queen City Youth Development Program, a program for 13-18yr old inner-city student athletes. Having a long athletic background at Walnut Hills High School and Miami University before earning a Masters in Applied Sports Science, Davis serves as the Sports Editor for the Cincinnati Herald, the City’s African American weekly. Davis is a graduate of the Grassroots Leadership Academy and its Train the Trainer Program as well as Class XIV of the Urban Leagues African American Leadership Development Program. Davis is also a Center of Progressive Leadership Political Leader Fellow Davis’ greatest commitment is to wife Beverly and son, Ozie Davis IV.

He presently leads Ozie Davis & Associates where he has consulted for municipalities, non-profit agencies, large issues and political candidate campaigns, developers, and anchor institutions advising his clients toward the best community relations approaches. Davis has experience in non-profit management as the founding Executive Director of the Avondale Comprehensive Development Corporation, a Community Development Corporation in the same neighborhood where Davis has resided on one street his entire life. Under Davis’ leadership the organization’s budget doubled in five years.

Davis served in the 100th congress as Congressman Steve Driehaus’ Community Liaison. He spent two years working with African-American, Faith-Based, Latino, and African communities in Ohio’s First congressional district. Prior to that, Davis spend five years in the field of Community Development as a Program Officer at the Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC). While at LISC, Davis was fortunate to work on Housing, Safety, Education, Workforce Development, Commercial Development, Community Organizing, and other community-based initiatives.

Davis was recently appointed to the Cincinnati Public Schools Board of Education. He served a term on the board of Cincinnati’s Citizens Complaint Authority and on the Open Cincinnati Action Team, as well as Center for Closing the Health Gap’s Healthy Food Access. Task Force. He was a member of the Reds Community Fund Advisory Committee for a decade. He is a graduate of the Urban League’s African American Leadership Development Program class XIV and the Cincinnati USA Regional Chamber of Commerce Leadership Cincinnati Class 38.

Davis co-founded the Avondale youth Council, a social engineering experience for Avondale youth and young adults, and founded the Queen City Youth Development Program, a program for 13-18yr old inner-city student athletes which has amassed over 150 scholarships for its alumni. Having a long athletic background at Walnut Hills High School and Miami University before earning a Master’s in Applied Science and law degree at Indiana University, Davis served as the Sports Editor for the Cincinnati Herald, Cincinnati’s African American weekly. Davis greatest commitment is to wife Beverly and son, Ozie Davis IV.
